The HR Business Partner (HRBP) – Retail is responsible for aligning HR strategies with retail operations to support business objectives. This role partners closely with retail leadership and store managers to drive workforce planning, performance management, employee engagement, talent development, and HR compliance across the retail network.
Collaborate with retail leaders to forecast staffing needs and ensure timely hiring for stores.
Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract, interview, and onboard high-quality candidates.
Support manpower planning to optimize store productivity and labor costs.
Guide store managers through goal-setting, mid-year and annual performance reviews.
Coach managers on feedback, performance improvement plans, and employee development.
Monitor performance indicators and advise on actions to enhance team performance.
Act as a trusted advisor for store leaders and employees on HR-related matters.
Manage employee relations issues with fairness, compliance, and risk awareness.
Drive engagement activities, recognition programs, and improvement of workplace culture.
Identify skill gaps across retail teams and collaborate with L&D to provide solutions.
Support training initiatives including leadership development for store managers.
Facilitate HR workshops (e.g., labor law, leadership, communication).
Ensure adherence to labor laws, company policies, and retail-specific compliance requirements.
Execute HR processes such as promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and contract administration.
Track HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, hiring, training completion) and provide insights to management.
Analyze retail workforce trends and provide data-driven recommendations.
Partner with retail leadership on organizational changes, store openings, and restructures.
Champion HR initiatives that support customer experience, productivity, and business growth.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
3–6+ years of HR experience, ideally within retail or multi-site environments.
Strong understanding of labor laws and HR best practices.
Strong business acumen with understanding of retail operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to influence leaders and manage challenging situations.
Problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in HRIS systems, data analysis, and reporting.
