Job Summary
The Polishing Head is responsible for overall operations of the tile polishing department, ensuring high-quality surface finishing, optimum productivity, cost control, and smooth coordination with production and quality teams. The role involves managing manpower, machines, process parameters, and maintaining world-class polishing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
Oversee end-to-end operations of the polishing line for ceramic / vitrified tiles.
Ensure achievement of daily production targets with desired quality standards.
Monitor polishing parameters such as gloss level, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.
Optimize machine utilization and minimize breakdowns.
Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce wastage.
Quality Control
Ensure tiles meet company quality benchmarks after polishing.
Coordinate with QA/QC team for inspection and corrective actions.
Analyze defects such as scratches, waviness, dullness, and take preventive measures.
Maintain consistency in gloss and surface finishing.
Team Management
Lead and manage a team of supervisors, operators, and helpers.
Plan shift schedules and manpower deployment.
Train operators on machine handling, quality standards, and safety procedures.
Monitor performance and ensure discipline on the shop floor.
Process Improvement
Introduce new polishing techniques and technologies.
Reduce rejections, rework, and material consumption.
Implement cost-saving initiatives in abrasives, power, and consumables.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain production MIS reports, shift logs, and quality records.
Track KPIs such as gloss levels, rejection %, output per shift, and machine efficiency.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
Required Skills & Competencies
